Bad Rap

by Jakobi Koppelli

If you do your best every time you do you job, does that make you bad?
If you are the best in the area at what you do, does that make you bad?
At your job if there are a couple of bad eggs around you, does that mean you are doing a bad job?
Can you control who you work with?

Many people don't realize this but being in a band or being a DJ is a job!  They are working for the bar.  They are working for the crowd.  They are working for themselves. I guess what I don't understand is how other people can make one guy look bad?

DJ Bryan Lee for example, The best DJ in the area. Right?  Atleast one of the best?  In the top 3?  Whatever your thoughts are on who the best in the area is, no doubt he has to be close to the top.  So why the "Bad Rap"?

Many times while Bryan is out playing some guy or gal does something stupid and the police come.  Of course the only reason these people did something stupid is because Bryan Lee was playing, right?  Because of hip hop?  Because he's a DJ?  Ofcourese not.  Just thinking this could be Bryan's fault is ridiculous.  Just thinking its because of hip hop music is ridiculous.  People telling bar owners that they need to get rid of the "hip hop", now thats just stupid!  Has a fight never broke out at a rock show?  Has someone not stolen something at a karaoke show?  It happens.
There are people out there that get tough when they start drinking.
There are people out there that stop thinking when they start drinking.

Once I heard of a huge brawl break out at a karaoke event. It ended up going outside into the parking lot of the bar.  People took pitchforks and shovels out of the back of their trucks, others grabbed towing chains and baseball bats.  Did people tell this bar to get rid of the karaoke?

The point is its not Bryan's fault that he's sooooo good!  The point is its not hip hop that is at fault.  These things are going to happen.  But for now lets all try not to steal, fight, or get the police called during a nite on the town.  You make the people performing for you look bad.  As for B. Lee,  he's just good.
You can catch Bryan Lee every Wednesday Nite at Cedar River Landing, if you can behave.  Peace!
